Is this a concealed carry course?

While we plan to offer fully online CCW certification in late 2026, the Home Defense and Firearm Essentials course is an educational course providing foundational knowledge about home defense, firearms safety, and legal considerations. It does not satisfy state-required training for concealed carry permits, but does cover many of the same concepts in a full course. Check your state's specific requirements and seek certified in-person training and sign up to be notified of when our fully online CCW Certifcation course launches later this year. 

Will this course teach me firearm safety?

This course teaches you the principles of safe firearm handling, storage, and several pitfalls that can lead to accidents in and outside of the home. Always remember that watching videos does not replace hands-on training, so if you are new to firearms, it's encouraged to seek out an instructor who can give you real-time feedback about your handling and posture. Knowledge and skill are different - you need both when the time comes.

How long does the course take?

The course consists of 12 core modules broken into 80+ bite-sized lessons, totaling approximately 3-4 hours of video content. Knowledge checks are included throughout to help you reflect on where you may want to go back and watch to improve understanding. Completion time varies based on your familiarity with the material. You can learn at your own pace, and you have lifetime access to review materials anytime from your laptop, mobile phone, or tablet.

Does this cover laws in my state?

This course provides firearm and carry educational information applicable across most states. Laws vary significantly by jurisdiction, but we have included resources to each state's most up-to-date laws. We specifically note that we currently do not offer our course in the following states:
